Ürün istikrarını iyileştiren bir çalışma ile QA (Quality Assurance) Geliştiriciler Grubu için bir sonraki küçük sürüm olan phpBB 3.0.4 RC1'in yayınlandığı phpBB grubu tarafından 08.12.2008'de duyuruldu.
3.0.4 RC1 sürümü 3.0.3 tarafından getirilen bazı hatalar (bugs fix) düzeltiyor, küçük sorunları gideriyor, 2 tane güvenlik bug açığı düzeltiyor ve ayrıca performansı da önemli oranda artırıyor.
3.0.3 sürümü sonrasında phpBB grubu tarafından duyurulduğu şekilde, 3.0.4 RC1 kurulum dosyalarında sadece dil ve sitil dosyaları için kod değişimleri mevcut.
